Archbishop Prendergast Resign: Part 2 The Catholic Voting Bloc

In the matter of the ongoing scandal involving “Catholic” Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, I have insisted that Archbishop Prendergast step aside to make room for a worthy, obedient Bishop for Ottawa. At all costs the devil's stranglehold on Canada's "Catholic" Prime Ministers must be broken.

Part 1 can be found here. What follows is part 2 of my argument.

Part 2 The Catholic Voting Bloc
How many Catholics voted for Trudeau in this past election because the Archbishop failed to act decisively and to send the strongest possible signal under Roman Catholic law to all Canadians that Justin Trudeau was a renegade Catholic in danger of losing his soul and that no faithful Catholic could possibly cast a vote for such a politician and still remain in Communion with Holy Mother Church? The enforcement of Canon 915 is intended to do precisely that (and more) and is the “medicine” (Archbishop Prendergast’s own words) that such Catholic politicians need.
An old and wise saying reminds us that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. However the Bishops of Canada, including Archbishop Prendergast, do not seem to believe that. Look at Justin Trudeau today, as PM of Canada. Would you say that he is more or less manageable by his religious leaders today than a month ago when he was simply one of 338 Canadian MP’s? In this matter, all Canadians witnessed an act of gross negligence by the Catholic Bishops of Canada and, in terms of the Canon Law of the Catholic Church, an act of malfeasance.
Catholics in Canada certainly represent what can be described as a swing vote when it comes to weighty matters of Canadian politics, as this article from 2008 illustrates. In a very recent LifeSiteNews article entitled How the Catholic Church helped Canada elect its most pro-abortion prime minister in history Lianne Laurence says:
And on October 2015, it seems, traditional Liberal voters returned to this Liberal Party in droves.
While election demographics aren’t yet available, Fonseca suspects that Catholics went back to the Liberals “more so than any group,” citing an Angus Reid poll released late in the campaign in which 55 percent self-identified “practicing Christians” said they intended to vote against the Conservatives.
Fonseca bases his assertion on several factors, one being the “powerful” Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association (OECTA), which lobbied hard via its influence and “aggressive robo-calling, to encourage its 45,000-plus teacher members in vote-rich Ontario to vote against the Conservatives.”
He also points to the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops’ “disastrous Federal Election Guide that largely reads like the campaign platform for the Liberals and NDP,” and “assiduously avoided saying the word ‘abortion’.”
Archbishop Prendergast was part and parcel of that disaster, as I described in my August 22 blog posting entitled Canada's Favorite "ProLife" Bishops Endorse Failed CCCB Election Guide:
Other prolife and faithful Catholics have also weighed in on that subject with valuable insight, exposing just how seriously deficient the CCCB Guide really is and pointing out the most egregious omission: cogent voting advice to ensure pro-abortion politicians do not gain power. The peculiar thing is that even those Bishops who are the honoured “champions” of the prolife movement seem to be quite content with promoting the CCCB Election Guide without further commentary or supplementary resources.
My intention was to expose the fact that even “prolife” Cardinal Collins of Toronto and “prolife” Archbishop Prendergast of Ottawa, as well as “prolife” Bishop Henry of Calgary, were each featuring prominent links on their diocesan websites to the CCCB Election Guide, without urgently needed qualification and supplementation. Of all the parties in Canada who should be pulling out all the stops to prevent a rabid pro-abortion politician from gaining access to the most powerful political office in Canada, the Catholic Bishops ought to be wearing themselves out doing just that. Instead, they can’t muster a basic and effective document that guides 44% of Canadians who identify as Catholics to actually vote Catholic at the voting station. This abysmal record extends back in time for decades and indirectly results annually in the deaths of at least 100,000 preborn children.
Any such voting guide or programs to educate Catholics on voting according to the Common Good, as espoused by the Roman Catholic Church, don’t have to mention any political parties or politicians’ names, or advocate for one party or the other. However they will very effectively assist Catholics in avoiding a vote for a politician—yes, including any so-called “Catholic” politician—whose position is contrary to the Catholic faith and/or the common good.
In a re-posting of an Open Letter to the Catholic Bishops of Canada issued in 2007 I stated,
There is perhaps no greater example of the dereliction of duty of too many Bishops to halt the killing of Unborns in Canada than the failure to mobilize the Catholic voting bloc in Canada. Legal protection for unborn children necessitates a political, legislative solution, a fact evident to even the least politically savvy of Canadians. Roman Catholic Bishops in Canada exercise moral authority over a formidable voting bloc of nearly 10 million Catholics and yet after nearly forty years of "legalized" child killing in Canada there is no indication whatever that Catholics have been guided by the Bishops to effect this political change in Canada through even the simplest of voting strategies, one solidly founded on basic moral principles yet not centred in partisan politics.
Why must such a campaign—mobilizing the Christians of Canada to vote effectively on behalf of securing legal rights for the Unborn—fall to some marginalized pro-life entity? Surely, if the Bishops had a will to stop the child killing in Canada, a focused and comprehensive Canada wide, diocesan wide, strategy to engage every Catholic to cast a vote for legal protection of the Unborn would have yielded long ago a complete halt to the killing. In the rare case where Bishops have been found to do anything in this regard it has amounted to a poorly organized, last minute, ineffective scramble. God have mercy on those Bishops for their failure in this most practical of all ways to end the holocaust of the Unborn. Their inaction for decades makes them substantially culpable in the deaths of millions of unborn children.
Nothing has changed in 2015 and now we have another “Catholic” Prime Minister at the helm in Canada, one who is arguably the fiercest, most emboldened, pro-abortion, pro-homosexual, pro-same sex “marriage” politician to arise on the national stage, and yet one who has managed to avoid the censure of Catholic Bishops for all the anti-Catholic positions named. His only official public censure by a Catholic prelate has been in relation to a political statement he made that restricts the conscience rights of his party members.
A democracy has only one means at its disposal to assure a just and peaceful future for itself and for future generations. That means is none other than voting in general elections for candidates who are best qualified to pursue the common good of the nation. How tragic and disgraceful that Catholic Bishops are willing to risk our future and that of our children by avoiding the hard choices of their office through dissent of official teachings and in more practical ways through withholding vital information from the national interest. Of all bodies in the service of the public, Catholic Bishops, through the vast resources of Mother Church, possess the very counsel of God and the most compelling two thousand year array of philosophy and doctrine upon which to build the foundations of a just and peaceful society. Yet our Bishops have squandered their authority and their trust in this regard in their handling of dissident and rebellious Catholic politician Justin Trudeau. God’s judgment upon them for such calamitous failures must surely be severe.

The Archbishop of Ottawa, the Most Reverend Terrence Prendergast, SJ, has not yet distinguished himself from that group of weak, cowardly and dissident prelates that rule over Canada and keep her on the downward march to oblivion. The evidence for this assertion is plainly before our eyes: Prime Minister Justin Trudeau continues to tout his Catholic bona fides and to partake of the Sacred Body and Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ without restraint, interdict or penalty.

Archbishop Prendergast Now the Tip of God’s Spear in Canada: Part 1

In the matter of the ongoing scandal involving “Catholic” Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, I have insisted that Archbishop Prendergast step aside to make room for a worthy, obedient Bishop for Ottawa. At all costs the devil's stranglehold on Canada's "Catholic" Prime Ministers must be broken.

What follows is part 1 of my argument.

-------------------------------------
Note: Links to further postings on this subject can be found as follows:

------------------------------------------------

Part 1: The matter of history
Seven years ago, back in March of 2008, after certain public statements by Archbishop Prendergast, I wrote a blog posting entitled “Archbishop Prendergast Must Go the Whole Nine Yards” in which I said:
I don’t rate the Archbishop‘s comments as very newsworthy really. His carefully worded statements might have sounded tough but there were no teeth in them at all. In fact, in a very important sense, his words misrepresented the teaching of the Catholic faith, which insists that the Minister of Holy Communion has a solemn obligation to deny the Eucharist to those "Catholics" who continue to obstinately reject Church teachings.
Several days later the Archbishop was interviewed on CFRA radio about his statements of the previous week. This generated another flurry of media attention, as well as another posting from me, wherein I hoped for some clarification:

We should try to get assurance from him that he will tackle the problem of pro-abortion “Catholic” politicians in accordance with Church teaching, i.e. following the example of Archbishop Raymond Burke, as I touched upon a few days ago. Anything less simply won’t be effective.

If the Archbishop won’t agree to stand in full accord with the instruction of the Magisterium on this matter, you can expect this whole incident to blow over in a week or two and not a thing will change.

One week later, amidst the inevitable dust up that followed, the Archbishop’s rhetoric appeared reminiscent of that of a giant among faithful Bishops, the Pope-grade Cardinal (then an Archbishop) Raymond Burke. So much so that I remarked in a posting entitled “Archbishop Prendergast Following in the Footsteps of Archbishop Raymond Burke?”:

It will soon be time for the Archbishop of Canada’s capital city “to do or to die.” A showdown of sorts is coming. Will the Archbishop act, or will his words soon vanish into fresh Canadian air as he settles into the politically correct chair of his predecessor?
Yet a few days later I posted again on some of the reaction from Canadian religious leaders.  My core thoughts were these:

I do think that Archbishop Prendergast has planted some rare and hopeful signs of change in his recent outline of Catholic teaching concerning pro-abortion politicians who call themselves “Catholic” but he will have to quite literally move some of the gates of hell which have been positioned in Canadian society over the last forty or fifty years.

Is he up to it? I really don’t know but I have complete confidence that if he moves forward step by step, does not waver in his responsibilities as Bishop, and if he holds complete fidelity to the Magisterium of the Church, God Himself will move those gates. I think it’s very important for Christians, especially Catholics, to do whatever they can to encourage the Archbishop in the monumental task which he seems to be considering.

The March 2008 controversy died down shortly thereafter. At no time did we hear the mention of Justin Trudeau's name. We didn’t hear anything else from Ottawa’s Archbishop until a couple months later when he splashed across the headlines of LifeSiteNews again with powerful comments made at a private Catholic college in Barry’s Bay, ON related to the papal encyclical Humanae Vitae. Subsequent events in his Archdiocese have revealed though that this Bishop has gained no ground in “preaching about the moral evil of contraception” or the perversions springing from it. No pastoral document on Humanae Vitae emerged. In fact no news reports can be found to indicate that he undertook any diocesan-wide campaigns to win Catholic allegiance to the papal directive, amongst either clergy or laity.

Fast forward about six years to January 2014 which is the next time the Archbishop draws a spotlight due to controversy. My blog posting entitled Ottawa Archbishop Prendergast: Why Is Pseudo-Catholicism Flourishing In Your Archdiocese? outlines the scandalous character of St. Basil’s parish in Ottawa which surfaced around the end of 2013. In my posting I could only say what was obvious to so many faithful Catholics:

Clearly, this Archbishop is all talk and no action, to the detriment of the souls under his charge. When will he rise up with God given courage and set his own house in order? Honestly, I’m heartsick over cowardly (or incompetent) Bishops who, when push comes to shove, fail to exercise their full God-given authority in defense of the Catholic faith. By their actions they show themselves ashamed of the Holy Faith and not worthy of their posts and will face the wrath of God for the loss of souls to Hell under their watch. I hope Archbishop Prendergast does not prove himself to be one of these. Let us pray that he picks up the pieces and recovers his Archdiocese from the clutches of the Devil while he still can.

In all this time since Archbishop Prendergast’s initial comments in 2008 regarding the denial of Holy Communion to pro-abortion Catholic politicians we heard absolutely nothing to my knowledge from the Archbishop about Justin Trudeau, even though Justin was an MP living in Ottawa since June 2013, two months after he became the leader of the Liberal Party and on the fast track to running for Canada’s Prime Minister. Yet the record of scandal centered in Trudeau’s rhetoric had been heaping up for years. As far back as 2001 the handwriting was on the wall. In a speech for the papal World Youth Day promo, the Toronto Star reported, "Trudeau recounted his struggles with the strict tenets of Catholicism." Indeed, Justin Trudeau was his father’s twin on Catholic social teachings pertaining to abortion, divorce, homosexuality and same sex “marriage.”

He has since advocated for expanded abortion access in Canada, specifically in PEI, as well as for funding abortion internationally to “reduce poverty.” He is also in favour of advancing transgender rights, permissive euthanasia and easy access to drugs.

In 2009 Trudeau himself openly acknowledged that his views are contrary to Catholic teaching in an interview with CBC.  “As a politician I have political positions on gay marriage and on abortion that don’t at all resemble those of the Catholic Church,”

In a LifeSite news article from 2012 entitled Trudeau’s last stand: unrestricted abortion or he’s gone Patrick Craine asks:

My question out of all of this is: in light of the growing evidence of the younger Trudeau’s extreme pro-abortion views, how long will Catholic leaders continue to prop up his leadership prospects?

During the last fifteen years what were Canada’s Catholic Bishops saying and doing in regard to Justin Trudeau’s renegade behavior? What were they doing to deal with his soul? Apparently because Trudeau wasn’t making too much noise and faithful Catholics who were calling for action were few and far between the Bishops calculated that no action was required. But does any thinking Catholic really suppose that Justin Trudeau, who has always claimed to take his faith seriously, hasn’t also been receiving Holy Communion at Mass and committing long standing sacrilege?

Only when Trudeau made the outrageous ruling in May of 2014 that all Liberal MP`s had to tow the party line on a “woman`s right to choose” did he get some pushback from a handful of Bishops. However, it was relatively timid correction in light of Trudeau`s long history of fierce defiance of Catholic teaching. Yet still, no Catholic Bishop was taking concrete steps to do battle with Goliath in accord with the provisions of Canon 915 and to dissipate the scandal and put the matter to rest. As a result I blogged on May 15, 2014 under the title “What Catholic Bishop Is Watching Over Justin Trudeau’s Soul?” and proposed the application of Canon law as per the instruction and example of Corpus Christi’s Bishop Emeritus Rene Henry Gracida.

If you follow my argument thus far, perhaps you’ll take a few minutes and read this document to see how respectful, loving, orderly and effective the process can be to restore public sinners to repentance or at least curb the scandal, maintain a virtuous Church and keep our children safe from conception through to birth.

Again, news reports by July of 2014 gave no indication that Catholic Bishops were yet taking the concrete steps necessary. In reaction to Trudeau’s suppression of the (pro-life) conscience rights of fellow MP’s Archbishop Prendergast had issued a pastoral letter on May 16 entitled “Being in Communion with the Catholic Church on Moral Issues”(nowhere to be found on Archdiocesan site). However, once again he did not address Trudeau personally and took no definitive action to censure him in accordance with official Roman Catholic Canon law. Furthermore there was no indication up to that point that a meeting between Archbishop Prendergast and Justin Trudeau had even taken place.

In a post entitled Canada’s Bishops Fiddle While Justin’s Star Rises and dated July 1, 2014 my first observation was:

Some pundits laugh when the suggestion is made that Justin Trudeau might one day be Prime Minister of Canada. He’s just too much of a pretty boy, not ready for prime time.

And finished with this one,

And for the good of Canada’s future, saving Trudeau’s soul ought to be a top priority with the Bishops.

Between July 2014 and the election of Justin Trudeau in October past, there is no record of any action taken by Archbishop Prendergast to deal with the scandal and outrage of this pseudo-catholic renegade or to assist him in the salvation of his soul.

Now that Justin Trudeau is Canada’s new Prime Minister the scandal has taken on nuclear dimensions, metaphorically speaking, with a resultant huge mushroom cloud beginning to form over Canada. Whereas the Bishops of Canada had years to deal with a renegade MP with very minimal political clout and influence, they now have to face a very powerful—even untouchable—national leader who has shown great disdain for the Catholic faith and its entire leadership. Thanks to a majority government he is now capable of extreme and longstanding damage to the common good of Canada, much as his father similarly demonstrated.

How terrible will be the judgement of God upon these shepherds for their inaction to date. The only question that remains is, “Will Archbishop Prendergast yet satisfy the demands of Christ, redress the pressing scandal and put the matter to rest according to Church law?” Perhaps another question ought to be asked: “How much more time will God grant the Archbishop to follow through on his duty?”

Part 2 to follow

A Shrinking Church Meets An Ever-Increasing Hostile Culture

" There is a bad combination brewing: a shrinking Church meeting an ever-increasing hostile culture. ...contraception is the cause for every major crisis that modern man faces: same-sex marriage, divorce and remarriage, abortion, single-parent households. And to the extent that Catholic clerics either kept quiet or jumped on the bandwagon, they will be held responsible. There aren't the numbers among the young to replace and sustain, and that means an even more shrinking crowd of Catholics."

Pastors And Bishops With Blood On Their Hands-Updated Version

Due to the current reality of a new pseudo-catholic Prime Minister in Canada, I have just updated the pamphlet which I hand off to interested parties when I carry my signs of protest outside Catholic parishes in Toronto GTA. The full text of the brochure appears below.

Last week I protested in front of St. John the Evangelist in Whitby (see photo above) where I was "greeted" by a lady from the parish who seemed to be speaking on behalf of Father Damian and who interrogated me as to why I carried my sign in front of a Catholic Church without first getting permission from the parish priest or the Archdiocese! Then she wanted to know why I would bring my sign to a Catholic Church in the first place. I asked her what part of the message on my signs she took issue with and offered her a copy of my brochure which would answer all of her questions. Twice I offered her my brochure and twice she ignored my offer but kept inferring I was doing/saying something wrong. Although she remained fairly calm her attitude was very rude and it was obvious that all she wanted was not answers but for me to simply go away.

PASTORS AND BISHOPS WITH BLOOD ON THEIR HANDS

Dear Fellow Catholic,

If... you do not speak out to dissuade the wicked man from his way, he (the wicked man) shall die for his guilt, but I will hold you responsible for his death. (Ezekiel 33:8)

Introduction
Many ask me why I take the measures I do to communicate my message and my concerns. The answer is simple: I do it to save lives and to save souls.
You may be reacting strongly at the moment. I ask you to keep an open mind and please do not allow mindless religion to overtake you. Instead, exercise the full range and authority of your Catholic faith. Whoever has ears to hear, let him hear.
The Silence of the Bishops
Along with many other Catholics, I am greatly distressed by the ongoing and virtual silence of too many Bishops on the subject of legalized child-killing in Canada. I plead with the Bishops to take every necessary step to confront the demon of abortion in Canada which has claimed over three million unborn victims. In addition I am very troubled by the near total neglect by Bishops and their priests to teach and reinforce to those under their spiritual care the Moral Law of God, as defined by the Catholic Church in her official teachings. These two striking failures have taken a dramatic toll on Canadian society, paving the way for a multitude of present day evils.
Desecration of the Eucharist Precludes Respect for Life
In evaluating the factors contributing to the tragedy of legalized child-killing in our nation, special notice must be taken of the desecration of the Eucharist by obstinate, dissenting Catholics living in grave sin. This widespread and large-scale practice counts as the single greatest contributing factor to Canada’s moral descent and disrespect for human life. It would be impossible indeed to account for such desecration without acknowledging the neglect and/or indifference of too many Bishops because, in fact, the oversight of the Eucharist is entrusted entirely to the Successors of the Apostles. How is it possible to foster respect for human life when disrespect for God Himself, through the Body and Blood of Christ, is not only tolerated but modeled at every Mass?
This sacrilege of handing over Jesus to His enemies, through Holy Communion, is no less a crime today than when it was first perpetrated by Pilate two thousand years ago.  The Scriptures warn, “For he that eats and drinks unworthily, eats and drinks damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.” Furthermore, the Christian “cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the table of the Lord and the table of demons.” Communion with Christ and communion with devils cannot be had at once. Christians, who by association, sympathies, and actions participate in devilish strategies that destroy life, family and the common good, cannot participate in Holy Communion. Unless the Holy Scriptures can lie, the implications of this truth are clear and astounding: No such wholesale sacrilegious Communion could take place unless a great number of Bishops sympathize, knowingly or unknowingly, with the work of demons!
Shockingly then, just as “pro-choice” Pontius Pilate, who was “personally opposed,” nevertheless delivered Jesus over to His enemies, so too many Bishops of Canada have dispensed the Body and Blood of Jesus to any and all Catholics in the Communion line, even though independent sources cite that as many as 90% of Catholics reject the authority and certain crucial teachings of His Church in Canada. The truly faithful Catholics have been scandalized and demoralized for decades by this officially sanctioned sacrilege.
A Pseudo-Catholic Culture Flourishes in Canada
The result of this abomination is a flourishing pseudo-catholic culture—one based not upon the mystery of the Eucharist but upon the “magic” of the Eucharist. Thanks to the negligence, or perhaps simply the spiritual darkness, of too many Canadian Bishops, regardless of the moral conduct or spiritual disposition of vast numbers of renegade Catholics, attendance at Mass and mere reception of Holy Communion is assumed to magically confer absolution for even grave sins and to satisfy all of God’s significant imperatives for the Catholic. This grave misrepresentation of the Catholic faith not only dishonors faithful Catholics but scandalizes the entire Christian community in Canada, many of whom are forced to conclude that Catholicism is but another cultish enemy of the true Christian faith.
The Bishops are well aware that, according to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, those Catholics who deny Church teaching on the intrinsic evils of contraception, abortion and sodomitic relations as well as the mortal sins of masturbation, co-habitation, fornication, pornography, adultery and divorce disqualify themselves from partaking in the Holy Eucharist. Without first giving evidence in Confession of genuine repentance followed by absolution, they may not receive the Body and Blood of Christ. Despite such explicit teaching, not only inordinate numbers of average Catholics condemn themselves through sacrilegious Communion but significant numbers of openly dissenting priests, religious, theologians, and professors do so as well. These leaders have been permitted to further corrupt the faithful by disparaging the Church’s doctrine on priestly celibacy, women’s ordination, same sex “marriage,” and other non-negotiables of the faith, all without public rebuke by the Bishops.
The dissent—if not outright heresy—from Rome’s teaching by too many Bishops themselves in regard to Catholic sexual ethics, particularly contraception, with its consequent immoral living by millions of Catholics, is bringing Canada to the brink of demographic and cultural collapse. The most egregious example of such rebellion surfaced in the Church’s last encyclical on contraception, "Humanae Vitae" in July 1968, wherein the Church reinforced its prohibition of contraception as a moral absolute. However, the Canadian bishops in their “Winnipeg Statement” of September 1968 subtly denied the truth of that encyclical. In effect their statement affirmed that there are circumstances in which fornication and adultery and sodomy are legitimate. Through sophistry, the Winnipeg Statement planted the seeds of destruction of the Canadian Catholic Church.
Shouldn’t the Bishops be warning all obstinate unrepentant Catholics that neither baptism nor the Eucharist will save them?  Again, according to the Catholic Catechism, to die in mortal sin without repenting and accepting God’s merciful love is to be separated forever from Him in Hell. The Bishops know these things but their neglect or unbelief betrays them since they refuse to teach and to warn Catholics. Therefore they corrupt the faith and prove themselves not shepherds but wolves, risking the eternal salvation of millions of Canadian Catholics. The result of their distorted, devilish thinking is a collapse in the integrity of the Canadian Catholic community as a whole. An entire generation of Catholics is confused about the true means of obtaining God’s grace.
Pope Emeritus Benedict Pointed to the Problem
Which habits have the Bishops determined to change in light of Pope Benedict’s warning in October 2006? None, it would seem. In no uncertain terms, the Pope tackled the failure of Bishops to address the moral problems of Canada, specifically pointing to homosexual “marriage” and abortion and to the extreme split between the Gospel and culture, strongly evidenced by the exclusion of God in the political realm. The Pope was warning that Canadian society would continue to go amuck “in the most disturbing of ways,” through neglect of the truth and of discipline.
By continuing the unscriptural and heretical practice of granting Holy Communion to those who obstinately persist in manifest grave sin, the Bishops have refused to heed Pope Benedict’s admonition. They have failed to take due diligence in defending the Holy Eucharist from sacrilege by the ordinary renegade Catholic.
The Pope’s comments politely and subtly pointed to a pervasive counterfeit culture which is supported by these sacrilegious communions and the immoral lifestyles of Catholics living in grave sin. Multitudes of such corrupted Catholics said to be “in good standing with their Church” impact every strata of Canadian society, including politics and the courts, and further degrade it with their anti-God and anti-life attitudes. Politicians, particularly pro-abortion, pro-sodomy Catholic Prime Ministers, draw special attention and indeed are capable of shocking degrees of scandal but it is the average uncatechized Catholic voter, in step with the spiritual blindness and befuddlement of too many Bishops, who empowers these “pro-choice” legislators and killers of the Unborn.
Bishops Have Failed to Mobilize the Catholic Voting Bloc
There is perhaps no greater example of the dereliction of duty of too many Bishops to halt the killing of preborn children in Canada than the failure to mobilize the Catholic voting bloc by means of a strong spiritual formation which generates an authentic Catholic conscience. Legal protection for unborn children necessitates a political, legislative solution, a fact evident to even the least politically savvy of Canadians. Roman Catholic Bishops in Canada exercise moral authority over a formidable voting bloc of nearly 10 million Catholics and yet after more than forty years of legalized child killing in Canada there is no indication whatever that Catholics have been guided by the Bishops to effect this political change. It could be accomplished through the simplest of voting strategies, one solidly founded on basic moral principles yet not centred in partisan politics.
Why must it fall to other groups to mobilize the Christians of Canada to vote effectively on behalf of preborn children? Surely if the Bishops had a will to stop the child killing in Canada a focused and comprehensive nation wide, diocesan wide, strategy to engage every Catholic of voting age to cast a vote for legal protection of the Unborn would have yielded long ago a complete halt to the killing. God have mercy on the Bishops for their failure in this most practical of all ways to end the holocaust of the Unborn. Their inaction for decades makes them culpable in the deaths of millions of unborn children.
Political Consequences of the Counterfeit Catholic Culture
Out of Canada’s counterfeit Catholic culture has emerged political devils such as Catholic Prime Ministers Trudeau, Chretien, and Paul Martin. Catholic Bishops were clearly in a compromised, weakened state when, in 1969, they permitted Catholic Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau and Catholic Justice Minister John Turner to foist the triad of legal contraception, abortion and homosexuality upon Canada, along with the liberalization of divorce laws.
Up until PM Stephen Harper’s election in 2006, Catholic Prime Ministers had managed the affairs of Canada for 38 years (except for a five month break).  Every one of them without exception has flouted Catholic teaching on sexuality through their pro-contraception, pro-abortion, pro-sodomy agendas. And every one of them considered themselves good Catholics and regularly presented themselves for Holy Communion. During that 38 year reign of social devastation and spiritual ruin the Catholic Bishops failed to take steps to deal with this epic scandal. Despite the fierce defiance of Catholic teaching exhibited by the Prime Ministers there is no record of even one single occasion when a Catholic PM was denied Holy Communion. And now we have a new Catholic PM, Justin Trudeau, who likewise claims to be a serious Catholic but is probably the most strident pro-abortion PM ever.
Canada’s Bishops failed to deal with the grave scandal caused by Paul Martin, one of Canada’s recent pro-abortion, pro-sodomy Catholic PM’s, defeated in the 2006 election, who spearheaded same sex marriage in Canada and vehemently proclaimed his government’s commitment to “a woman’s right to choose” without restrictions. His Bishop, the Bishop of Canada’s capital city, Ottawa, dismissed any possibility of discipline for Martin, claiming that the PM was a “faithful member of my cathedral parish.” Ottawa’s current Archbishop Prendergast has likewise taken no action to date to reign in the renegade Justin Trudeau’s scandalous statements and actions.
Profound failures such as this by too many Bishops of Canada blur the line between that which is evil and that which is good and sustain the “extreme split between the Gospel and culture, strongly evidenced by the exclusion of God in the political realm” lamented by Pope Emeritus Benedict. How can such a caricature of apostolic leadership be described as anything other than the “blind leading the blind?”
Bishops Urgently Need to Implement Guidelines Provided by Rome
Two sets of guidelines authored by Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, later Benedict XVI, if diligently and universally honoured by the Bishops of Canada, would decidedly impact the moral climate of Canada and immediately set Canada on a path to rescuing the Unborn and reviving respect for the moral law of God.
In a 2004 letter to the American bishops entitled appropriately Worthiness to Receive Holy Communion then-Cardinal Ratzinger said that those Catholics who continue to obstinately reject Church teachings must be denied Communion. He cited Canon 915 and other church documents to support this position.
The Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, in 2003, published The Participation of Catholics in Political Life which was directed to Catholic Bishops, Catholic politicians and all lay members of the faithful called to participate in the political life of democratic societies. Principles contained in this guide urgently need application in Canada but are constantly ignored by the Bishops.
Bishops Need to Call for a National Fast and Penance
Much is made these days in Catholic circles of initiatives such as the “New Evangelization” and “Social Justice.” However, truly worthwhile Catholic endeavours such as these can never see the blessing of God until the fundamental errors and injustices addressed in this letter are resolved. Celebrations like the 2008 International Congress in Quebec City by the Bishops with the theme “The Eucharist, gift of God for the life of the world” ought to instead be a call for a national fast whose primary purpose is repentance and conversion. God desires first of all obedience from His Bishops, certainly not festivals, celebration and song at such a time of crisis as we face. Ironically, God’s gift of life is also the Unborn…who will pay with their life for the ongoing desecration of the Eucharist.
It is past time for a Congress that enjoins Catholics throughout Canada to instead put on sack cloth and ashes, seeking repentance and forgiveness for the disobedience of the Bishops and the profanation of the Holy Eucharist.
Every day the Bishops delay, the souls of Catholics entrapped in the darkness of a false religious culture remain in great danger of eternal damnation and every day the Bishops delay, a further 300 preborn Canadians perish. Their silent scream continues to daily torment those whose Christian conscience remains unfettered by the deceptions of demons.

I hate, I despise your festivals -- and I take no delight in your solemn assemblies. 22 Even though you offer me your burnt offerings, and grain offerings, I will not accept them; and the offerings of well-being of your fatted animals I will not look upon. 23 Take away from me the noise of your songs; I will not listen to the melody of your harps. 24 But let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.     (Amos 5: 21-24)

Conclusion and Statement of Goodwill
To the best of my knowledge and belief, nothing said in this letter contradicts the Catechism of the Catholic Church or the official teachings of the Catholic Church. My approach has been criticized and some have accused me of saying uncharitable things about religious leaders, i.e. Bishops, Priests and Pastors. If what I say is true then it cannot be uncharitable since charity demands the truth. For those who claim I have made false accusations against the clergy, I simply ask: Please provide the proof of that charge and supply evidence that refutes my claims.

Ottawa Archbishop Prendergast Forthwith Return Thy Mitre

December 2012: Pro-life activists picket outside the Sudbury
 Catholic District School Board

UPDATED: In the matter of the ongoing scandal involving “Catholic” Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, in this posting I have insisted that Archbishop Prendergast step aside to make room for a worthy, obedient Bishop for Ottawa.

My detailed argument is made in other postings :
--------------------------------------------------

Yes, I am calling for the resignation—forthwith—of Archbishop Terrence Prendergast of Ottawa. This prelate has utterly failed in his duty towards the soul of Justin Trudeau, a self-professed Catholic and our Prime Minister-Designate, and in his duty to redress nation-wide scandal arising from the manifest, obstinate and persistent denial of grave Catholic truths by PM Trudeau, most particularly his rabid pro-abortion stance. Furthermore, Archbishop Prendergast, through inaction, has failed also in his serious and solemn duty to protect the Eucharist from sacrilege on every occasion that Justin Trudeau presents himself for Holy Communion. Last but by no means least, Archbishop Prendergast has recklessly played with the forces of evil in this nation by failing to discipline Justin Trudeau at the earliest possible stages in order to contain the awful damages likely to be sustained in Canada should he accede to a higher political office (which he has) and advance the culture of death in shocking and profound ways.

If this prelate does not resign his most worthy office and make way for a worthy successor, I call upon all Catholic faithful to offer up fasting, prayers, petitions and devotions to bring His Excellency to immediate public repentance and action to remedy, as best as can be currently accomplished, his failures in precipitating this grave national crisis. Should these implorations prove ineffective in the immediate short term, I call upon the Catholic faithful to beseech the Lord to remove him from office by the power of His Holy Spirit, through sickness, affliction, griefs, sorrows or other severe and divine actions, as a sign to his successor and in order to break the devil’s stranglehold on Canada’s “Catholic” Prime Ministers who are empowered from cradle to grave by too many spiritually blind and cowardly Bishops.

A follow-up posting will go into the necessary and greater detail demanded by such a severe adjuration. In the meanwhile, for the good of our nation and the protection of countless innocent lives, prayers and appropriate spiritual exercises are urgently requested.

Sheep Separated From Goats at Synod Of Bishops Via Conscience Rights

This Synod has been designed by men behind the scenes to make a huge frontal assault on the sexual morality teaching of the Church. Those men are not motivated by charity or by a concern for the suffering of families. They are motivated by their consciences, which cannot allow them to remain hidden in their sins any longer.

Media Message At Vatican Synod On Family Being Manipulated?

"How are enemies of the Faith, who deny the teachings for a living, who are not professional reporters but lobbyists for an anti-Catholic cause, getting press credentials while priests are getting tossed out?"

Catholics Aren't Really Really Good Americans

Good one from Michael Voris.

The leftists are all atheists and progressives and attack from that position, and the "conservatives" don't want to hear any moralizing that upsets their carefully crafted world-economic view — especially when it comes to contraception. And before we go any further: yes, this is all about contraception and Protestant heretical beliefs about it.

The Litmus Test Of Today's Catholic Bishop?

Recent news stories from Europe and from the Vatican have once and for all exposed the nature of the dissent that oiled the engine of the Sexual Revolution which continues to ravage the West and which now threatens even a schism in the Church. No surprise to readers of this blog, it’s that Trojan Horse called contraception, only now the purveyors of that heresy seem no longer to be afraid of revealing their hand!

These are some of the headlines to which I refer:

This explosion of boldness and shocking disobedience, along with common everyday observation, should leave no doubt in our minds that any Catholic Bishop that does not proclaim the teaching of Humanae Vitae is hamstrung with a full blown crisis of fidelity in his diocese on matters of sexuality. In no way can such a Bishop be considered “pro-Catholic” let alone “pro-life” regardless of fine sounding rhetoric and token gestures. Not only is such a Bishop hamstrung but he is actually facilitating the ongoing destruction to society that the sexual revolution spawns and is also complicit in the mounting insurrection which threatens a schism in the Church. Furthermore, and more importantly, a vast number of individuals in our society are losing their eternal souls due to the sexual chaos and confusion which reigns, due largely to the silence and/or denial of so many Apostles of Christ.

What exactly is involved in a Bishop’s campaign to proclaim the teaching of Humanae Vitae in his diocese? Based on the example of other truly orthodox prelates, I believe at least three outcomes would emerge:

1. At a minimum, that Bishop must give evidence that he believes, heart and soul, in the magisterial teaching on contraception, as expressed in the Catechism of the Catholic Church and as presented in the encyclical Humanae Vitae. Such belief would compel a pastoral letter introducing a broad and high profile program of catechesis designed to educate and save Catholics from the intrinsically evil practice of contraception for the eternal good of their souls.

2. In pastoral practice, the Bishop must require that his priests read and implement the Vademecum for Confessors Concerning Some Aspects of the Morality of Conjugal Life, wherein is emphasized "The Church has always taught the intrinsic evil of contraception, that is, of every marital act intentionally rendered unfruitful. This teaching is to be held as definitive and irreformable." Engagement in such gravely sinful behaviour necessitates the Sacrament of Reconciliation for restoration before God and reception of Holy Communion. Marriage preparation must affirm the absolute incompatibility of contraception with the sacrament of marriage.

3. A strong emphasis on natural family planning (NFP) within the diocese within the context of Pope St. John Paul II’s teachings on the Theology of the Body.

We see in our own backyards in Canada the disgraceful and devastating effects of dissent from Catholic teaching on contraception. Most prominently we see in the Archdiocese of Toronto a hypocritical—perhaps even schizophrenic—approach to the matter, with Cardinal Collins at one moment admitting that Humanae Vitae is being ignored virtually everywhere (including Toronto?), then praising a priest who has been one of the only sane and consistent voices supporting Humanae Vitae, and then on the other hand saying and doing nothing to alert his flock as to the grave dangers of contraceptive use. This calamitous failure of duty by the Cardinal likely explains his “see no evil, hear no evil” policy in regard to the wicked sex-ed program instituted in Ontario schools by Premier Kathleen Wynne. Ignoring evil gets to be habit forming.

Yet the pro-life movement in Canada—especially the largest pro-life media conglomerate—somehow considers Cardinal Collins a “pro-life” Bishop and heaps praise and honour on him when he attends the March for Life. Furthermore they are very careful not to criticize him to any great extent or to implicate him in failure. This must stop. The Cardinal is the de facto leader of Catholics in English Canada and is grossly negligent in the matter of the salvation of souls under his watch. How difficult can it be to face up to this very tragic reality and report accordingly?

Similarly, pro-life leaders across Ontario and Canada cling obstinately to Archbishop Terrence Prendergast as an even stronger example of a “pro-life” Bishop yet this Bishop’s diocese is awash with out of control dissent and heresy, much of it aimed directly at Humanae Vitae. Homosexuality is a flourishing enterprise in Ottawa, even in the priesthood, so much so that one can only wonder if perhaps the Archbishop is a victim of blackmail. To say that the Catholic School Board under his rule flouts Catholic teaching is a great understatement and reveals only a small part of the Archbishop’s timidity in dealing with his “Catholic” educators.  And what of the pro-choice “Catholic” politicians who endlessly haunt and taunt not only the capital city but all of Canada with their blatant and murderous ways? Have any ever been denied Holy Communion? Has the scandal been redressed? Surely the faithful Catholics in Ottawa are justly impatient with their shepherd, having waited so long for him to live up to his promises and finally take control of all the renegades.

Do these Bishops not accomplish some good undertakings in their dioceses? Of course they do; in fact some of their efforts are highly commendable. However, that fact cannot excuse their abject failures and lukewarm attitudes when it comes to the salvation of souls, which is the Supreme Law of the Church.

Again I say, the forces in the Church aligned with evil have boldly shown their hand and the line in the sand is (still) very clearly Humanae Vitae. If a Catholic Bishop wishes to save his flock from the snares of satan and ensure they escape the culture of death, he must enshrine the truth and practice of Humanae Vitae in his diocese. Until he does every faithful Catholic has a duty to treat him not only suspiciously but as an unfaithful steward, perhaps a hireling, or worse still a wolf. To withhold judgment or criticism and especially to hold him up as an example—pro-life or otherwise—is to invite further scandal and to confirm that Bishop in his obstinacy and disobedience.

Yes, Cardinal Thomas Collins, We Should Feel Ashamed

Toronto’s Cardinal Thomas Collins tells us that we should “not only be disturbed but also ashamed.” Presumably, when he says this, he is referring to Canadians since he speaks of Canada’s upcoming election and the need to put aside politics.

Yes Cardinal Thomas Collins we should indeed feel ashamed. I am deeply disturbed and ashamed that two women, Linda Gibbons and Mary Wagner, are regularly carted off to jail—one only a week ago on Toronto’s streets—for protesting the yearly carnage taking place within Canadian society, not in some distant Middle East land. However, I note that the Cardinal has remained silent on this disgrace. Can we assume then that on this account there is no need to feel ashamed?

Yes Cardinal Thomas Collins we should indeed feel ashamed. I am ashamed as a Catholic that throughout fifty years of legalized child killing in Canada Catholic Bishops have been unable to defeat the demonic power responsible for it, because of infidelity to Catholic teaching, ineffective catechesis and other everyday mediocre efforts. Furthermore I am greatly distressed by recent revelations that Catholic Bishops have at times hindered immensely and oftentimes subverted the efforts of the prolife movement in Canada. Again, I note that the Cardinal has also been silent on this scandal. Can we assume then that on this account there is no need to feel ashamed?

Yes Cardinal Thomas Collins we should indeed feel ashamed. I am ashamed that as a resident and taxpayer of Ontario that I should have to tolerate the perverse sex-ed propaganda that a homosexual Premier wishes to foist upon the children of this province, without the express condemnation and whole hearted opposition of the Catholic leaders of this province. Can we assume then that on this account there is no need to feel ashamed?

Yes Cardinal Thomas Collins we should indeed feel ashamed. I am ashamed that the de facto leader of Canada’s Catholic community refuses to warn his flock of a sinful mentality that greatly fuels the awful statistical realities of abortion in this land but which also contributes to the demise of marriage, the family structure and the overall strength of our communities and our nation. The scourge that I speak of is that of the contraceptive mentality. It is an intrinsic evil and a mortal sin according to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, which demands that it be purged through a trip to the Confessional before reception of the Holy Eucharist. Though the Cardinal is full aware of this there is no evidence that he is warning his flock of the mortal danger to their souls and the daily sacrilege that rises before the Throne of Heaven at each Mass that takes place in his Archdiocese. Unless his flock are all saints, statistics demonstrate that as many as 80-90% of them practice or otherwise support this evil behaviour and lifestyle. Though the Cardinal prides himself on his orthodoxy, again I note that he has been silent on this scandal. Can we assume then that on this account there is no need to feel ashamed?

Yes Cardinal Thomas Collins we should indeed feel ashamed. The subject of disciplining pro-abortion “devout” but evil Catholic politicians who sustain the culture of death has been ongoing for decades. You yourself more than once went on the record saying you would not rule out denying Holy Communion because under some circumstances it is appropriate. Yet when push came to shove and Ontario had one of its most defiant “Catholic” politicians, you folded. It was not the first time you were missing in action on such scandals. Since we have heard nothing from you personally on these incidents can we assume then that on this account also there is no need to feel ashamed?

I applaud the Cardinal for his efforts to provide assistance to refugees to immigrate into Canada. But an old saying bears much truth: charity begins at home.  The Cardinal says we should be ashamed but shame implies wrongdoing. What have Canadians done wrong in regard to the Syrian refugee crisis? How are they responsible? In fact, what guilt does the nation of Canada bear for this tragedy? Canada has done more to help refugees than most nations and the solution to the crisis is not simple.

Surely there is lots of real wrongdoing to be ashamed of and put right first in the Cardinal’s own house and nation.

Prophets Of Doom Spoil Church Of Nice

Try to agree with anything and everything that can be agreed to, or even somewhat agreed with. Appear to be the most hospitable, agreeable, friendly, accommodating institution on the face of the earth so that people will say, "Oh look, they aren't that mean and judgmental like everyone says. Perhaps I'll become Catholic."
